Laugh So Hard Your Guts Hurt

October 2006

Boring day? These hilarious memories will put a smile on your face and take you back to your days as an undergrad. Relive your wild days and share your memories with us at here.

What is the memory that makes you laugh hardest today?

“The Driverless Waldo Vehicle entered in the 515 Delaware Avenue Backyard One-car Demolition Derby. #2 The Playerless Piano Playing the Swan Song as it slowly drifted to Earth after its release from the "Dorm" fire escape.” - H. Stanley Stoney, Jr., ’59

"The funniest occasion I can remember was at one House-party weekend, where we brothers moved out of the "House" and slept at one of the dorms. Apparently we had a few more beers than normal that afternoon, and when we went to get dressed formally for the evening, another fraternity brother and I dressed in each
others "Tux's". I arrived at the Fraternity House in a Tux several sizes too big for me, while the other
fellow wore a tux so tight he could hardly move. Needless to say we had everyone else in stitches that
evening, until we changed clothes. - Ed Bergmiller, '52

Describe the best party

“The Beach Party Theme at one of the Houseparty Weekends. There were remnants of sand in the House for two years.” - H. Stanley Stoney, Jr., ’59

"The best party was one weekend when we held a University Party, and all fraternity houses were invited to
attend. As one of the volunteer bartenders that evening, I remember tapping 13 kegs of beer. The last
one turned out to be a test keg filled with water, which we used to test our CO2 system. (Hey it was dark
out there where we kept the kegs!!) It took a long time for me to live down the reputation as the only
bartender at Lambda Chi who tapped a keg of water and put a damper of the party!!" - Ed Bergmiller, '52

Describe your favorite/best road trip

“Pledge Trip to New York, we did every “task” required and then some.” - Kenneth H. Gough, ’71

"When I was going through "Hell Week", just prior to being made a Brother, a few of us were given the
assignment to travel to NYC, interview the Captain of the Queen Mary, and ask a lot of ridiculous questions.
Fortunately we ran into him as he was leaving the ship that night, and he accommodated us by answering all
those crazy questions. We then spent the rest of the evening in the "Village" in NYC." - Ed Bergmiller, '52

What is the one memory you have shared or will share with your children or grandchildren?

“A whole host of memories relating to the strong and lasting ties with the Pledge Mates and Brothers.” - H. Stanley Stoney, Jr., ’59

"The various harmless pranks we pulled on each other on Saturday
nights when we generally had an informal party. It only cost $12 for a keg of beer in those days, so it
was pretty easy to get 12 brothers to throw in $1 for a party. (The good old days!!)" - Ed Bergmiller, '52
